General Maintenance Technician III / Supervisor

This position is located at the SC Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Disabilities (DBHDD) - Office of Mental Health, Anderson Mental Health Center, 1 Linwa Boulevard, Anderson, SC 29621. Under limited supervision, performs and coordinates a variety of maintenance duties, to include general maintenance, plumbing, electrical, grounds and structural needs for all Anderson-Oconee-Pickens clinic locations to ensure all clinics are maintained in an acceptable manner. Foresees future maintenance needs and takes appropriate action to ensure the safety of staff and clients / patients. Ensures the State fleet is appropriately maintained to be available for staff to provide services.

Responsibilities for the General Maintenance Technician III / Supervisor :

  • Responsible for coordinating all building and ground maintenance at each of our AOPMHC locations, across three counties to include general maintenance, plumbing, electrical, grounds, and structural needs. Serve as a Contract Monitor for all service-related contracts, to include, but not limited to : Janitorial, Lawn Maintenance, Trash / Rubbish Removal, and Pest Control. Serves as Medical Waste Coordinator for Center.
  • Serve as Center Safety Officer, ensuring staff are trained and continuously preparing for local emergencies. Responsible for coordinating the Center's OSHA compliance program. Will provide on-call response to emergencies during holidays and closures. Must maintain valid SC Driver's License.
  • Will supervise staff assigned to the physical plant services for the center.
  • Works closely with AOPHC Procurement, to coordinate and supervises use, assignment, maintenance, and safety of the Center's vehicle fleet which is approximately 30 at this current time.
  • Responsible for AOPMHC Physical Inventory and fixed assets. Assist OMH auditor with annual Fixed Asset Inventory Audit.
  • Performs other duties as requested.

Minimum and Additional Requirements :

  • High school diploma and trades experience related to the area of employment. Relevant experience may be substituted for the required diploma on a year-for-year basis.
  • Additional Requirements :

  • Must possess a valid SC Driver's License.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and travel between all locations of the Anderson-Oconee-Pickens Mental Health Center.
  • Preferred Qualifications :

  • Bilingual abilities in English and Spanish (or another language) are a plus.
  • Additional Comments :

    Post hire, employees must have :

  • Knowledge of safety practices relevant to the area of employment. Knowledge of tools, equipment, materials and supplies used in the designated trade. Knowledge of techniques, methods, requirements and practices used in the designated trade.
  • Skill in the use of various trade tools and equipment. Skill in making emergency and general repairs and adjustments to equipment used in building and maintenance work.
  • Ability to comprehend blueprints, plans and specifications. Ability to understand and follow instructions. Ability to perform heavy manual labor. Ability to supervise subordinates. Ability to plan operations. Ability to communicate effectively.
  • This position is considered essential. Employee may be asked to report to work even if the Center is closed in the event of an emergency.
