DESCRIPTION OF WORK

In this position, you will provide non-professional nursing care to the residents at Southeastern Veterans' Center. This will involve participating in interdisciplinary team meetings to discuss treatment plans and the development of individualized interventions and methods. You will assist residents with daily living activities such as bathing, grooming, and getting in and out of bed. Some of your duties will include applying safety devices and medications, distributing meals and water, and transporting residents. As an aide, you will record all care and services performed for residents, as well as maintain positive working relationships with your fellow staff members. Additionally, you will maintain and improve your skills by attending training programs.

Work Schedule and Additional Information :

  • Per Diem employment, 48 hours bi-weekly
  • Work hours will be determined from following shifts. Training will be conducted during 1st shift.

1st shift : 6 : 45 AM to 3 : 15 PM

  • 2nd shift : 3 : 00 PM to 11 : 30 PM
  • 3rd shift : 11 : 15 PM to 7 : 45 AM
  • Telework : You will not have the option to telework in this position.

    • REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

    QUALIFICATIONS

    Minimum Experience and Training Requirements :

  • Six months of experience as an Aide Trainee (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or
  • One year of paid experience in the care and treatment of geriatric, developmentally disabled, or physically or mentally ill patients / residents; and graduation from high school or equivalent.
  • You must be registered and certified by the Pennsylvania Department of Health as having met the competency requirements for performing nurse aide work.

    • Additional Requirements :

  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.

    • Legal Requirements :

  • A conditional offer of employment will require a medical examination.
  • This position falls under the provisions of the Older Adult Protective Services Act.

    • Under the Act, a conditional offer of employment will require submission and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports, including but not limited to, PA State Police and FBI clearance.
