Job Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med / Surg Telemetry position requiring an AZ or compact RN license and proficiency in telemetry strip interpretation.
Responsibilities
Position is in an acute care hospital setting on a 49-bed Medical / Surgical Telemetry unitPatient population includes CHF, COVID, respiratory, GI, diabetic, telemetry, post-cath, and total joint replacement casesNurse to patient ratio is typically 1 : 5Required to work 12-hour day shifts (7a-7p) with self-scheduling and every other weekend coverageRNs are the first to float to East Campus and possibly the PCU if qualifiedRequired to interpret and sign telemetry strips once per shiftUses Cerner EMRBiPap, CPAP, and breathing treatments are utilized on the unitNo call or on-call requirementsResponsibilities include interpreting telemetry strips and documenting per shift requirementsWork with charge nurse, house supervisor, and nurse aides (aide ratio 1 : 10-15)Required to pass sterile technique skills check (Foley catheter and central line dressing) during orientationOne shift of unit-based orientation is providedScrub color is navy blueHoliday coverage required for Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year's (specific expectations apply)Candidates who do not pass the dysrhythmia or sterile technique exam within two attempts will be ineligible for assignments with this health system for 6 monthsRequirements
Active AZ or compact RN license required at time of consideration; pending licenses are not acceptedMinimum of 2 years of RN experienceCurrent ACLS and BLS certifications requiredExperience required in reading basic tele strips, caring for CVA and TIA patients, and total joint replacement casesCerner EMR experience recommended due to limited orientation timeMust successfully pass a dysrhythmia exam prior to assignmentMust not have been employed by any CommonSpirit-affiliated facility (including CHI or Dignity) within the past yearMust live at least 50 miles from the facilityBenefits
