Accounting Manager
Duties and Responsibilities
Manages Accounting Clerk and encourages professional development.
Prepares annual 1099 statements and ensures the processing and distribution of W-2s.
Manages Capital Accounting and maintains the Fixed Assets sub-ledger.
Tracks payroll and other expenses, relative to funding or reimbursement commitments.
Prepares monthly billings for funding / reimbursement and posts journal entries / interfaces to support completion of the month-end close process by workday 10.
Prepares and submits external reporting of annual budget information and actual expenses to various funding sources. Prepares fiscal sections of all reports accurately and submits within contract time frames.
Reconcile and prepare a schedule of Restricted Assets monthly, and reconciliation of pledges and other billed receivables. Account reconciliations are due monthly according to schedule, by workday 17. Submits to VP, Finance for approval.
Prepares and submits required governmental reports and other required reports accurately and within the required time frame.
Under direction of the VP, Finance, participates in the preparation of the Agency's annual Master Budget and monthly projections.
Prepares reconciliations and provides appropriate documents and working papers for the annual audit.
Supports VP, Finance led projects to drive efficiency, provide business analysis, or comply with accounting standards.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Accounting and 3+ years of experience required. Ability to provide attention to detail, show initiative, and use sound judgement is required. Minimum of two years' experience in not-for-profit or grant accounting preferred. Proficient with not-for-profit accounting software Blackbaud system preferred. Experience with outsourced payroll, especially ADP is preferred. Interest in pursuing graduate education or professional certification is preferred.
