Job Summary :
The Safety Shift Specialist is responsible for implementing, maintaining, and monitoring health and safety programs to ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations. This role plays a critical part in promoting a culture of safety and minimizing workplace hazards through inspections, training, reporting, and risk assessment.
Key Responsibilities :
- Develop, implement, and enforce safety policies, procedures, and programs in accordance with OSHA and other regulatory agencies.
- Conduct regular workplace safety inspections and audits to identify potential hazards and recommend corrective actions.
- Investigate accidents, incidents, and near misses; prepare detailed reports and root cause analyses.
- Maintain accurate records of safety inspections, trainings, incidents, and compliance activities.
- Facilitate employee safety training programs, including new hire orientation, ongoing education, and emergency response drills.
- Collaborate with operations, HR, and management teams to ensure safety standards are integrated across departments.
- Monitor and ensure the proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and safety equipment.
- Lead or support safety committee meetings and initiatives.
- Stay current on regulations, industry trends, and best practices in health and safety.
- Partner with shift leadership to address unsafe behaviors or conditions in a proactive manner
Qualifications :
Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety, Environmental Science, Industrial Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience).2+ years of experience in a safety or EHS role, preferably in manufacturingStrong knowledge of OSHA standards and other applicable regulations.Excellent communication, training, and documentation skills.Proficient in Microsoft Office and EHS software platforms.Comfortable working across all areas of the facility and shifts, including weekends and holidays as neededCertification preferred :Work Environment & Physical Requirements :
Regular exposure to manufacturing or industrial environments.Must be able to walk, stand, climb ladders, and wear PPE for extended periods.Some travel may be required between worksites or for training.Preferred Skills :
Bilingual (English / Spanish) is a plus.Familiarity with ISO 45001 or other management system standards.Experience with incident tracking or safety audit software.
