General Job Responsibilities :

Manage high-risk pregnancies, including prenatal screening, diagnosis, and management of complex maternal and fetal conditions.

Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to develop and implement patient care plans.

Conduct advanced diagnostic and therapeutic procedures such as amniocentesis, chorionic villus sampling and fetal monitoring.

Monitor fetal growth, manage preterm labor and handle maternal complications.

Respond to obstetric emergencies and manage urgent care situations.

Maintain accurate and detailed medical records.

Provide patient education about high-risk pregnancies, prenatal care and potential outcomes.

Skills :

Strong knowledge of high-risk obstetrics, including diagnostic techniques and treatment protocols.

Ability to make critical decisions regarding maternal and fetal health.

Excellent interpersonal skills for working with patients, families and healthcare teams.

Technical proficiency in performing and interpreting advanced diagnostic tests and procedures.

Provide a high level of accuracy and detail in patient assessment and documentation.

Ability to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams.

Flexibility to adapt to new work environments and different medical teams.

Minimum Education Requirements :

Doctor of Medicine (MD) degree or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) degree from an accredited medical school.

Residency training program in obstetrics and gynecology accredited by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) or the American Osteopathic Association (AOA).

Fellowship in maternal-fetal medicine.

License & Certifications :

Board certification in maternal-fetal medicine by the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology (ABOG) or the American Osteopathic Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology (AOBOG).

Active and unrestricted medical license in Pennsylvania.

Experience :

While specific requirements may vary, most locum maternal-fetal medicine physician positions prefer candidates with at least one year of experience providing care in a clinical setting.
