Title : Senior Project Accountant
Location : Manhattan, NY
Schedule : Onsite | Monday-Friday, 8 : 30 AM - 5 : 15 PM
Salary : $75,000-$120,000 (commensurate with experience)

This role offers the opportunity to manage the full financial life cycle of projects - from setup through closeout - while collaborating directly with Project Managers and firm leadership. You'll play a key role in improving financial performance, mentoring junior team members, and driving process efficiency within a supportive and professional environment.
What You'll Be Doing :
- Partner with Project Managers to establish budgets, track financial progress, and request additional funding as needed.
- Participate in project meetings and provide financial updates to leadership teams.
- Communicate project financial information clearly to both accounting and non-accounting staff.
- Advise Project Managers on project profitability, contract changes, and client invoicing.
- Mentor and train junior accounting staff to strengthen departmental capabilities.
- Lead initiatives focused on process improvement and automation within the accounting team.
- Post accounting transactions and maintain accurate accounts receivable / payable records.
- Prepare, review, and submit client invoices with all required supporting documentation.
- Monitor and update budgets throughout the project lifecycle in Deltek Vantagepoint.
- Manage project accounting and billing functions for assigned offices or departments.
- Review unbilled costs and outstanding invoices to optimize billing and cash flow.
- Audit subconsultant invoices for compliance with contract terms.
- Support external and internal audits by preparing detailed financial schedules and documentation.
- Perform additional accounting and reporting duties as assigned.
What We're Looking For :
Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Business Administration.3-6 years of project accounting or billing experience (engineering, architecture, or related industry preferred).Experience with Deltek Vantagepoint, required.Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook.Strong understanding of project financial metrics, including profit margins and multipliers.Excellent organizational, analytical, and communication skills.Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced team environment.Professional demeanor with high integrity and attention to detail.
