Job Overview :
The Manager develops, implements and monitors department goals and objectives, and ensures compliance with all applicable policies, laws and regulations.
Qualifications : Required :
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Minimum 5 years of Central Supply experience
- Strong communication and organizational skills
- Proficient computer skills
Preferred :
3+ years in a supervisory or leadership capacity
Bachelor's Degree in a healthcare or related field and a minimum of 3 years of sterile processing or perioperative leadership experience in an acute care hospital
CER or CFER Certification
Certifications and Licenses Required :
CRCST - Certified Registered Central Sterile Technician through IAHCSMM or CBSPDEssential Functions :
Provide strong team leadership, able to motivate staff and respond to individual and team needsAble to develop a strong team culture dealing appropriately with staff conflictDemonstrate collaboration and partnership skills with physicians, Service Line Managers, OR staff, administrative staff and othersEffectively lead and facilitate team meetingsSelf-directed in own personal development, setting outcomes, seeking resources or learning, seeking and accepting feedbackAble to plan time, organize workload and delegate effectively and efficientlyUnderstand hospital-wide objectives and priorities and incorporates them into departmental goalsSupport and participate in the Magnet Recognition processClinically skilled, familiar with sterile processing developmentsAssure that the standards of operation for the department are in compliance with the standards set by regulatory agencies, i,e, JCAHO, NJ DOH, OSHA and AAMIEnsure established procedures and standards of practice are followed for decontamination, cleaning, processing and sterilization of reusable instruments and equipmentResponsible for the control of the hospital-wide reprocessing functions, including determination of the appropriate method of reprocessing, including, but not limited to, collection and transport, decontamination, packaging, sterilization, disinfection, storage and distribution of reprocessed itemsMonitor and maintain sterilization records according to state guidelinesCoordinate repairs and refurbishments and replacements of all instruments and equipment working collaboratively with Biomedical EngineeringActively collaborates in recruiting, interviewing and hiring with the Human Resources departmentDemonstrate effective management and progressive discipline for performance issuesPerform timely and meaningful feedback and evaluations consistent with RWJUH's policies and proceduresCommunicate effectively with staff and promotes two-way communicationProactively promote staff satisfaction and retention and takes prompt action to address concerns or issuesDevelop unit's salary and non-salary budgets annually to meet sterile processing care delivery goalsEffectively allocate and schedule unit resources to meet workload demandsExplain any significant variances to VP, Perioperative Services and FinanceIdentify and plan for routine capital purchases and replacementsResponsible for the continual efforts in cost savings opportunities with respect to alternative products or third party servicesAnalyze equipment and inventory spending patterns to maximize cost-effectivenessServe as an Infection Prevention / High Level Disinfection resource for the organization, an active participant with the Infection Control CommitteeBenefits and Perks :
