Summary
The IT Intern provides hands-on experience supporting enterprise IT environments across both network/system operations and end-user technical support. This role is designed to expose interns to real-world IT infrastructure, including networking fundamentals, endpoint systems, and service desk operations, while developing strong troubleshooting and customer support skills.
The intern will assist with day-to-day support requests, device setup, and documentation, while also gaining experience working alongside Network and Systems Engineers on projects related to network connectivity, monitoring, and infrastructure maintenance.
This is a summer internship.
Job Functions
Technical Support / Service Desk
- Provide first-level technical support to end users for hardware, software, and connectivity issues
- Assist with troubleshooting Windows and macOS operating systems
- Support Microsoft 365 applications (Outlook, Teams, OneDrive, SharePoint)
- Assist with user account requests, password resets, and basic access issues
- Image, configure, and deploy laptops and peripherals for new hires and equipment refreshes
- Document issues, resolutions, and procedures within the ticketing system
- Escalate complex issues to senior engineers following established processes
Network & Systems Support
- Assist Network and Systems Engineers with day-to-day operational tasks
- Perform basic network troubleshooting (wired and wireless connectivity, VPN access, DNS/DHCP basics)
- Help monitor network performance and availability using monitoring tools
- Assist with installing, labeling, and organizing network and server equipment
- Support endpoint management activities (patching, updates, asset tracking)
- Participate in infrastructure projects such as network upgrades, hardware refreshes, or system migrations
- Learn and follow security best practices related to networking and system access
Preferred Talents
- Experience working in a service desk or customer support role
- Familiarity with Microsoft 365 or Google Workspace
- Exposure to ticketing systems or ITSM tools
- Coursework or labs related to networking or systems administration
Qualifications Preferred
- Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Network Engineering, or a related field
- Familiarity with Windows and/or macOS operating systems
- Interest in IT infrastructure, networking, or systems engineering
- Strong problem-solving skills and willingness to learn
- Ability to communicate clearly and professionally with end users
