American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med / Surg position on an acute care unit with Epic EMR and every-other-weekend shifts.
\n \n Responsibilities\n
Work on a 35-42 bed Med / Surg unit within an acute care settingPatient ratios are typically 1 : 5-6 for both day and night shiftsVaried patient population including altered mental status, cardiac (no active CP), renal, oncology, overflow stroke and TBI, post-appy, chest tubes, and wound careEpic EMR system is used for documentationRequired to work 12-hour shifts (7 : 00–19 : 30), three shifts per weekEvery other weekend and holiday coverage as neededMay float to other Med / Surg units but not to ED or Behavioral HealthTele monitored remotely with no requirement to read strips, but basic arrhythmia recognition is neededBipap, Cpap, and High Flow devices usedResponsibilities include caring for a diverse medical-surgical patient population and performing wound careDrips administered include Heparin and Protonix only; no titration or cardiac drips requiredCharge nurse on the unit 24 / 7 with PCT assistance availableNo IV team present; nurses are responsible for IV startsFloor-specific orientation consists of 1-2 shifts with a preceptorNavy blue scrubs required; navy or white jackets and white or navy undershirts permittedExcessive or distasteful tattoos must be covered, and only natural hair colors allowedHoliday coverage is assigned based on unit needsFirst-time travelers are accepted\n \n Requirements\n
Active WV or compact RN license requiredMinimum of 2 years Med / Surg RN experienceCurrent BLS (AHA) certification required; ACLS preferredProficiency in basic arrhythmia recognition and ability to identify fatal cardiac rhythmsExperience using Epic EMR preferredMust live outside a 50-mile radius from the facilityCandidates who have previously worked as perm or traveler at this facility or within the WVU system must have a 2-year break before reapplyingCOVID-19 vaccination required unless approved for medical or religious exemption\n Benefits\n
