About The Position

Job Title : Medical Technologist

Profession : Medical Technologist

Hours per Shift : 12 hours

Experience :

Minimum of 1 year of clinical laboratory experience, or recent graduates from an accredited clinical laboratory training program.

License :

State Licensure required.

Certifications :

Relevant certifications as required by the state.

Must-Have :

Associate’s Degree or higher in clinical laboratory science or medical laboratory technology from an accredited institution.

Description :

Performs clinical testing in assigned sections of the laboratory.

Responsible for accurate and timely results through quality control, performance improvement, proficiency testing, and preventative maintenance of equipment.

Recognizes abnormal critical values and follows proper guidelines for notifying medical team members of results.

Performs clerical, general, and phlebotomy duties related to daily operations in the laboratory.

Provides and dispenses blood products as requested by medical staff.

Follows established protocols for safety, infection control, security, compliance, and hazardous materials usage.

Accurate collection, handling, and processing of blood specimens via venipuncture and / or fingerstick.

Reports critical values according to policy and performs tests within established timeframes.

Performs established daily and periodic preventative maintenance with documentation.

Takes responsibility for seeking professional growth and continuing education.

Assists in training new associates and students in laboratory practices.

Familiar with laboratory information systems and utilizes them appropriately to perform, charge, and report results.

Completes annual competency assessments successfully and by assigned date.
