MISSION
The Applications Engineer is responsible for coordinating the design and development for assigned programs and ensure that the system performance meets technical requirements. This is a verification testing position for someone with a proven track record in engineering and the ability to work independently.
Work is performed in a fast-paced environment within tight time constraints
Responsibilities & Activities
- Responsible for DFMEA, DVP&R, BOM, and engineering timelines including action plans for issue resolution and product validation
- Collaborate with CAD designers in the development of details and assembly math data / drawings to ensure the design meets the program requirements
- Responsible for the development of the Design and Process Validation Plans
- Responsible for the manufacture, assembly, and validation of prototype parts
Collaboration :
Communicates design changes to the program teamReleases drawings / math data to suppliers for the manufacture of tooling, prototypes, components, and assembly aids associated with the programRelease drawings / math data to the customer that meets the individual customer’s standardsMake recommendations for improvement to the program team and the customer to continuously drive towards lower cost and increased quality within the required timingInterface with other Development groups (Components, Materials, Process, and Systems) to ensure the provision of the technologies required to support the programLead technical contact for assigned programsOther duties as assignedLegal Compliance :
Ensure legal compliance with state, federal and OSHA requirementsEnsure ISO procedures are followedMaintain compliance with all company policies, work instructions and proceduresPROFILE REQUIREMENTS
Personal Background
Bachelor of Science in Engineering requiredExperience in Automotive / Manufacturing preferredDatabus messaging structure & application (preferably CAN)Experience in GD&T, DVP&R, DFMEA, and BOMFamiliarity of Quality Systems (ISA / TS 16949, ISO / IATF, 26262, and REACHMinimum of 2 years’ experience in the automotive industry with hybrid and / or electric vehicles4 years’ experience in battery pack development, preferredSkills and Abilities
Knowledge of quality, safety and manufacturability of battery packsBasic understanding of the capabilities of common CAE systems (Unigraphics, SDRC I-DEAS, CATIA, ABAQUS, etc.)No Design experience necessaryAt ease and effective in a matrix, multicultural, and fast evolving environmentWrite test plans for software and system verification tests and set up test environment using CAN tools and other test equipmentAssist the project manager in the writing of requirements, documents, and project functional specificationTravel required – less than 10% (Domestic and International)Job Soft Skills
