Location : 26 Wales Street, Dorchester, MA

Pay Range : $16.00 per hour

40 hours per week

The Assistant Teacher will be responsible for helping the classroom teacher conduct a program and activities for children that are age appropriate.

18 years of age with Highschool diploma or GED is required

a) Sit, walk, stand, bend, squat, climb, kneel, and twist on an intermittent or occasional continuous basis.

d) Operate telephone and other electronic communication devices.

Duties & Responsibilities :

a) Assist Classroom Teacher with implementing the daily curriculum.

b) Work as a team to collaborate and communicate with parents, teachers, administration, and other employees at The Salvation Army.

c) Foster a nurturing atmosphere. Assure that a method of positive discipline is always used. Make sure that all aspects of the classroom are running smoothly, transitions, routines, nap time, health and safety procedures, etc. Maintain a safe, stable, and loving environment.

d) Make sure the classroom is clean, the materials are stocked, and the door is locked at the end of each day.

e) Assist The Children's Learning Center Administration and Salvation Army staff in ensuring that The Children's Learning Center continues to provide a high-quality program to the families we serve.

f) Be sure to voice your suggestions and needs about enhancing your work in the classroom with the classroom teacher and Director.

g) Pursue activities to further your own professional development. Become familiar with and follow through with EEC regulations, center policy, and Salvation Army policies.

h) Attend and participate in staff meetings and other meetings that arise.

i) Perform all duties in compliance with The Salvation Army's policy and regulations governing staff and client relationships, hours of work, holiday and any other matters integral to the position.

j) Perform other related duties as assigned within the scope of the position
