Job description

Sydor Optics, Inc. is a Rochester based manufacturing company fabricating flat-surfaced, precision optics for over 60 years. Our manufacturing facility is in Chili, NY just west of the Rochester International Airport. Our Sales Team works closely with customers to assist them with custom requests for a variety of markets ranging from entertainment, semiconductor, medical, military and more. Position Description

The Shipping, Receiving & Logistics Coordinator is responsible for managing inbound and outbound shipments, maintaining accurate inventory, and ensuring smooth material flow within the manufacturing process. This role also supports procurement and production planning functions, including vendor coordination, material ordering, and scheduling activities, to meet production and customer requirements efficiently.

Qualifications

Education / Certifications :

  • High School diploma or equivalent; Associate's or Bachelor's degree in business, supply chain, or related field preferred.
  • 2–4 years' experience in shipping, receiving, inventory control, or procurement in a manufacturing environment.
  • MRP / ERP system experience preferred .

Skills, Knowledge and Experience :

  • Knowledge of shipping regulations, carrier requirements, and packaging standards.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Ability to work with vendors on orders, deliveries, and quality issues.
  • Understanding of MRP / ERP systems and Microsoft Office.
  • Ability to multitask, prioritize, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Attention to detail with accurate data entry and documentation skills.

    • Essential Functions

  • Shipping & Receiving
  • Prepare and package outbound shipments per specifications, including labels and documentation.
  • Receive, inspect, and document inbound shipments of raw materials, tooling, and supplies.
  • Verify accuracy of shipments against purchase orders and update records in ERP system.

    • Inventory & Materials Management

  • Maintain accurate raw material and finished goods inventory.
  • Update job process instructions with current order information.
  • Assist with physical inventory counts and reconcile discrepancies.

    • Procurement Support

  • Assist in ordering materials, consumables, and supplies as needed.
  • Follow up with vendors to ensure timely delivery of orders.
  • Help qualify and maintain vendor records.

    • Production Planning Support

  • Coordinate material availability with production schedules.
  • Assist in generating and maintaining shop order routing and scheduling in ERP.

    • Process Improvement

  • Participate in developing and improving procurement, shipping, and inventory processes.
  • Assist in implementing software and automation initiatives.

    • Other Duties

  • Maintain a safe and organized work area.
  • Perform other duties as assigned and needed.
