Position Overview :

The main job functions and role of the Business Accounting Services (BAS) Director is to carry out the accounting production plan as laid out and set forth by the Solution Leader. The Director is expected to bring forward thinking strategy of how to manage BAS staff in the proper manner to get all work accomplished within the parameters of the Solution budget. Hitting production goals and managing COGS are two essential functions as well as predicting staffing needs based on projected sales. The BAS Director is the key advisor to the Solution Leader keeping all aspects of current Solution needs visible.

Responsibilities :

  • Is available for and responsive to questions while work is in process.
  • Follows up on assignments and holds others accountable for their internal deadlines and administrative responsibilities.

  • Supports a collaborative and team-oriented environment while pushing themselves, their peers, and their teams for strong results and quality work.
  • Able to persuade others on technical and non-technical matters.
  • Willing to take tough stands with clients (internal and external) and with staff; delivers sensitive messages with diplomacy and tact.
  • Carries themselves in a manner that can command attention from senior leadership inside the firm and with our clients.
  • Internally, behaves as part of the solution leadership group and is actively involved in solution matters such as recruitment, staff learning and development, scheduling, and retention.
  • Business acumen
  • Able to explain the service offerings of the firm to a client or other contact.

  • Can articulate BerganKDV’s value proposition and understands our target market / client profile.
  • Aware of the impacts that different clients / industries and service offerings have on the technical work and final deliverables.
  • Understands how the firm makes a profit and can interpret common firm financial statistics; acts in consideration of how they can positively impact firm and engagement economics.
  • Can accurately scope a new project and construct a fee estimate / budget.
  • Internal and external networking
  • Spends time developing their network of key financial decision makers, referral sources, and recruits.

  • Identifies opportunities for BerganKDV to provide services and involves appropriate BerganKDV resources.
  • Developing others
  • Takes the time to teach others information / skills that are critical to their current or future work.

  • Reinforces with praise when someone has done well.
  • Knows the strengths and weaknesses of their team and assigns work accordingly, balancing the needs for development and efficiency.
  • Adjusts their management approach to the people they are working with (e.g. spending more time giving direction to new associates, but less time with more experienced associates).

  • Delivers holistic feedback to others and advisees about their job performance and career growth; coaches others and advisees to help them develop their careers.

  • Qualifications :

  • 8+ years with both public accounting and private company experience.
  • BA / BS in Accounting or related field.
  • Experience with QuickBooks Online, Sage Intacct, NetSuite, Microsoft Dynamics GP, Microsoft Office.
  • PC proficiency, including spreadsheet, word processing and presentation software applications.
