Tax Controversy Senior
Our National Tax Department (NTD) serves high-profile, national and multinational clients, providing a range of domestic and international transactional tax planning services and tax-related advisory services. The combination of knowledge and experience forms the basis of our ability to assist clients in meeting their business objectives.
The opportunity
Our tax controversy services team uses an enterprise-wide approach with global tax risk and controversy management to prevent, manage, and resolve tax controversies. You will be at the heart of this effort.
Your key responsibilities
Our global tax controversy network is uniquely positioned to help businesses with their tax controversy issues. You will be involved in all aspects of controversy management and dispute resolution including assisting clients before the IRS Exam and Appeals Divisions, penalty relief and abatement requests, and advising on Alternative Dispute Resolution.
- Assist in resolving Client IRS account issues, including :
- Drafting Forms 2848 and 8821 for Client signature
- Reviewing IRS notices, tax returns, and transcripts to identify issues on the account
- Calling the IRS as a 2848 or 8821 representative to request collection holds, first-time abatements, review the account with an IRS agent, and advocate for resolution of the identified issue
- Drafting correspondence to the IRS, including :
- Reasonable Cause penalty abatements
- Form 843, Claim for Refund and Request for Abatement
- Form 12153, Request for Collection Due Process or Equivalent Hearing
- Form 3911, Taxpayer Statement Regarding Refund
- Other miscellaneous tasks, such as :
- Tax research (Internal Revenue Code, Code of Federal Regulations, Revenue Rulings, etc.)
- Assist with Client Representation and project management within the context of an IRS examination

We offer a comprehensive compensation and benefits package where youll be rewarded based on your performance and recognized for the value you bring to the business. The base salary range for this job in all geographic locations in the US is $81,500 to $134,600.Join us in our team-led and leader-enabled hybrid model.
