CAPS Collaborative is looking for an LPN to support a student with multiple disabilities in the classroom
environment. We are looking for a reliable, caring and energetic nurse to support our student in the
program with pediatric experience. The applicant will work closely with related service providers in an
embedded therapy model individualized to each student's needs.

About the role :
To assist the RN manage the school health program consistent with the guidelines, regulations and statutes
governing school health.
Responsibilities :
Assess and evaluate student health. Screenings (vision, hearing, scoliosis), height, weight and vital signswhen appropriate.
Input Emergency information and immunizations into computer.Maintain health records according to state law and school policy via paper files and computer.Observe school facilities and assist RN with the modifications necessary to maintain optimum health andsafety for students and school personnel in accordance with the DPH School Health Guidelines.
Carry out medical procedures to be performed on students : G-tube feedings, nebulizer treatments,suction, seizure protocols and administer medications.
Respond to frequently encountered health problems.Always maintain confidentiality of students.Participate in in-service training programs.Provide input for student's nursing assessment report.Floats to other CAPS Programs as needed for nursing coverage.Respond to child abuse and / or neglect.Support student progress with activities of daily living.Support student's Individual Health Care Plan.Support students with educational programming as directed by RN and classroom teacher.Provide input regarding purchase order requests for medical supplies as needed of the entire program orclassroom specific.
Completes and submits incident reports and related documentation when needed to report injury tostudent or staff.
Participate in staff meetings as required.Maintain professional boundaries and ensure student / staff confidentiality as appropriate within theeducational Team
Contribute to professional growth and collaboration by staying informed on current literature / resources inthe field and actively participating in staff meetings and professional development opportunities
Candidate requirements :
Current Massachusetts Practical Nursing License.Experience in School Health nursing preferred.Clinical knowledge of health, developmental disabilities, behavior and social needs of children ages 3-22years.
Maintain CPR certification from a recognized provider.Current training in routine health screenings (vision, hearing and postural).Effective oral and written communication skills.Computer skills preferredCope with the mental, emotional and physical stresses of the position.Be in good general health and demonstrate emotional stability.Provide simple first aid to students and staff with minor injuries.
