KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Evaluate, implement, and manage advanced Windows and Linux server solutions, including virtualized and cloud environments (e.g., VMware, Hyper-V, KVM, Azure).

Lead and participate in complex IT projects, including system upgrades, migrations, deployments, and automation initiatives.

Develop and maintain infrastructure-as-code (e.g., Terraform, Ansible) and CI / CD pipelines for system provisioning and application deployment.

Design, implement, and support custom scripting and automation (PowerShell, Python, Bash, etc.) to improve operational efficiency and reliability.

Troubleshoot and resolve complex hardware, software, and network issues, providing third-level escalation support.

Administer and optimize enterprise storage (SAN, NAS), and backup solutions.

Monitor system performance, security, and availability; proactively identify and address bottlenecks and vulnerabilities.

Collaborate with cross-functional teams to plan and execute IT initiatives, ensuring alignment with business objectives.

Create and maintain comprehensive technical documentation, including system configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting guides.

Mentor and provide technical guidance to junior administrators and engineers.

Stay current with emerging technologies and industry trends; recommend and implement innovative solutions.

Participate in change management, incident response, and compliance processes, ensuring adherence to ITIL best practices and company policies.

Provide 24x7 support as needed; participate in on-call rotation and respond to critical incidents outside normal business hours.

KNOWLEDGE & ATTRIBUTES

Strong leadership and mentoring skills, with the ability to guide and inspire junior team members.

Advanced knowledge of Windows and / or Linux operating systems, virtualization, and cloud platforms.

Proficiency in scripting and automation (PowerShell, Python, Bash, etc.).

Experience with infrastructure-as-code, CI / CD, and cloud technologies.

Strong understanding of enterprise storage, virtualization, backup, and networking concepts.

In-depth understanding of IT security principles, including risk assessment, vulnerability management, and compliance with industry standards.

Excellent troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills.

Effective communication and collaboration skills; ability to convey technical information to non-technical stakeholders.

Ability to work independently and as part of a highly collaborative team in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.

Strong, proactive organizational skills and attention to detail.

ACADEMIC QUALIFICATIONS & CERTIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or directly related field or equivalent work experience usually obtained in 7-8 years' directly related experience.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE

Minimum 5-7 years of experience as a Linux or Windows Systems Administrator / Engineer in an Enterprise Data Center environment.

Experience with web server environments (IIS, Apache).

Experience and understanding of DNS.

Experience with Enterprise applications, including Microsoft 365, JIRA, Monitoring Solutions (SAAS vs. on premise).

Experience with Database technologies (MSSQL, MySQL, Oracle, others).

Experience with scripting languages (PHP, Perl, JavaScript, Bash, PowerShell, etc.) is a plus.

Experience implementing and supporting SCADA, physical security and similar applications.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Able to move equipment and other hardware up to 50 lbs.

Remain stationary for long periods of time.

Close visual work on a computer terminal.

Ascend / Descend a ladder and perform duties atop a raised platform.

Operate computer, peripherals, and other office equipment.

Perform work during US business hours and time zones.

WORK CONDITIONS & OTHER REQUIREMENTS

Remote work with extensive daily computer usage.

Occasional travel to data centers or other locations as required.

Must be willing to work outside normal business hours, including weekends, late nights, holidays, and on-call support.

Must be comfortable working in a highly critical, fast-paced environment with shifting priorities.

All work must adhere to company policies, standard operating procedures, and applicable laws and regulations.

This is a remote position that requires reliable internet connection and electricity. A monthly stipend is provided to cover expenses associated with working remotely and use of a personal mobile device, if applicable.

NTT Global Data Centers Americas, Inc. offers competitive compensation based on experience, education, and location. Base salary for this position is $131,000 - $157,000.

All regular full-time employees are eligible for an annual bonus; payout is dependent upon individual and company performance.

Employees receive paid time-off, medical, dental, and vision benefits, life and supplemental insurance, short-term and long-term disability, flexible spending account, and 401k retirement plan to create a rich Total Rewards package.
