RETTEW is seeking a Structural Program Lead to guide the technical direction, quality, and business strategy for our growing Structural program. This senior leadership role carries high visibility, cross-team collaboration, and responsibility for both client relationships and program growth.

Work Environment : Hybrid (three days in-office)

RETTEW Locations : Berwyn, Lancaster, Lehigh Valley (R1); Mechanicsburg, State College (R2); Akron / Canton, Morgantown, Pittsburgh (R3)

Position Summary / What You’ll Do

As Structural Program Lead, you will define and execute the strategy for RETTEW’s Structural program—driving technical excellence, business development, and client satisfaction while mentoring a talented team of engineers and designers.

Responsibilities / Day-to-Day

  • Set direction and priorities for the Structural team, including quality standards, best practices, and efficiency.
  • Oversee portfolios of structural work to ensure consistency, profitability, and client satisfaction.
  • Lead business development : identify opportunities, prepare technical proposals, and maintain client / agency relationships.
  • Manage staffing and resource allocation, balancing workloads and supporting hiring, training, and mentoring.
  • Serve as final technical reviewer on deliverables to ensure compliance with codes, regulations, constructability, and cost-effectiveness.
  • Promote innovation in structural engineering by staying current with materials, methods, and new software tools.
  • Collaborate with other practice leads (roadway, traffic, utilities, etc.) to deliver integrated solutions.
  • Provide budget oversight and strategic forecasting for program needs (equipment, tools, staffing).

Qualifications

Required

  • Bachelor’s in Civil or Structural Engineering.
  • 15+ years of structural engineering experience in infrastructure / transportation.
  • Licensed Professional Engineer (PE).
  • Proven leadership in program or team management.
  • Strong technical credentials (bridges, retaining walls, structural systems).
  • Demonstrated ability in client management and business development.
  • Track record of mentoring and building effective teams.
  • Experience managing multiple concurrent projects of varying complexity and scale.
  • Preferred

  • Master’s degree in Structural or Civil Engineering.
  • Familiarity with advanced analysis / design software, construction methods, and agency review processes.
