The Role in a Nutshell :
We’re seeking a Materials Management Clerk to support Novel Bio’s logistics. Reporting to the Head of Operations, this role spans supply chain, shipping / receiving, and laboratory support. Responsibilities include both desk-based and hands-on lab activities. This role offers hands-on exposure to biotech operations and opportunities for growth within a fast-moving company.
Compensation : $17 / hr
Key Responsibilities :
Supply Chain & Inventory Management
- Support implementation of a Kanban system to maintain on-site material inventory
- Place and track orders for chemicals, consumables, and other materials
- Serve as primary point of contact for purchasing; obtain quotes, place orders, and follow up with vendors on delivery timelines
- Collaborate cross-functionally with quality assurance, operations, and project teams to ensure timely material availability
- Track open orders and resolve discrepancies or delays with suppliers
- Maintain electronic purchasing dashboard and material cost database for accurate project cost models
- Support document control by filing and maintaining accurate records for materials including Certificates of Analysis (CoAs)
- Recommend and support continuous improvement to Kanban processes, purchasing practices, and material flow efficiency
Shipping & Receiving
Manage relationships with shipping vendors and specialty couriersMaintain shipping supplies (packaging materials, dry ice)Prepare customer shipments, ensure pickup, and track deliveryReceive incoming shipments of materials, chemicals, and equipment; verify accuracy against purchase orders, verify documentation, and confirm specifications are metRequired Experience :
High school diploma or GED (associates degree in a technical, business, logistics, or related fields preferred)Solid proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, SharePoint) with strong Excel skills (formulas, pivot tables, basic reporting)Ability to follow written procedures and maintain accurate recordsStrong attention to detail and organizationAbility to lift and move packages up to ~40 lbsReliable, punctual, and able to work in a team environmentPreferred / Nice-to-Have
Prior experience in shipping / receiving, inventory control, or warehouse operationsExperience in a laboratory, production, or manufacturing environmentFamiliarity with basic safety procedures for handling laboratory materials (training provided)Comfortable learning new software systems (purchasing dashboards, inventory tools)Job Type : Full-time, onsite
