Position Summary

Under general supervision, responsible for performing general landscaping and manual work necessary to maintain facility grounds.

Essential Functions

The following statements are intended as general illustrations of the work in this job class and are not all inclusive for specific positions:

1. Mow grass, plow/shovel snow, water lawns, feed and trim shrubs, tends flower beds and regularly inspects assigned work areas to insure proper standards are maintained.
2. Operate lawn and grounds equipment including power mowers, snow blowers, bucket loaders and other power equipment.
3. Maintain and complete minor repairs of facility sidewalks and parking lots.
4. Assist Lead Groundskeeper with planning, planting and maintaining exterior and interior landscaping in accordance with the landscaping plan.
5. Remove refuse and trash from grounds.
6. Clean building glass, clean garage elevator lobbies and glass.
7. Adjusts, clean and perform minor mechanical work on grounds equipment to include daily checklist of equipment for proper operation and safety.
8. Recommend for purchase and suggests suitable locations for trees and shrubs.
9. May apply pesticides to plants as directed.
10. Perform duties and operate equipment in a safe manner.
11. Perform other duties as assigned by management.

Job Qualifications

Prior grounds keeping or environmental services experience

Ability to be physically mobile, and stand/walk for 8 to 12-hour shifts.

Excellent guest service and communication skills.

Must be able to work in areas containing dust, secondhand smoke, varying noise and temperature levels, lighting, vibrations, crowds and air quality.

Must present a professional appearance and demeanor at all times.

Regular and punctual attendance is required.

These skills are typically acquired through a high school education or equivalent and 1 year-on-the-job training or completion of a recognized apprenticeship program, or an equivalent combination of training, education and experience which demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the position.
