Sponsored Projects Specialist
We are seeking a Sponsored Projects Specialist (SPS) who will be the first point of contact for review of proposals, awards, and subawards, and expedites processing through established departmental workflows.
Specific Duties & Responsibilities :
- Ensure all proposal and agreement-related documentation is complete, correct indirect costs (IDC) and facilities and administrative (F&A) rates are applied, and that proposals are submitted via COEUS, the university's system for sponsored projects management.
- Verify compliance with all required processes and ensure that files are complete and properly assembled for review.
- Assess and determine based on a complex matrix of policy and regulation to proceed or to obtain additional review or approval.
- Ensure that required negotiation and agreement tracking information for contract proposals, non-disclosures, collaborations, and materials agreements is accurately maintained in COEUS and MyRAP (the JHU ORA's systems for sponsored proposal processing and research agreement negotiation) and update the database as needed.
- Determine schedules to meet review and submission deadlines.
- Apply knowledge of federal regulations and policy on research compliance, e.g., human subjects, animal use, stem cell use.
- Understand processes regarding conflict of interest and compliance that impact proposal submission, contract signoff, and problem resolution.
- Compose transmittal correspondence to internal and external stakeholders (e.g., administrative staff, sponsors) regarding the status of negotiations and / or signature process.
- Respond to routine questions regarding rules and regulations governing sponsored projects.
- Meet benchmarks, timelines, and goals to expedite the processing of grants and contracts.
- Participate in continuing education to remain current on changes in procedures, regulations, technology, etc.
- Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications :
High school diploma or graduation equivalent.Five years of related administrative experience.Preferred Qualifications :
