Cost Analyst Team Leader
The Cost Analyst Team Leader will play a dual role, functioning as a Cost Analyst on assigned projects and leading and developing a team of Cost Analysts. This position is crucial for executing defined cost analyst standard work, coaching team members on successful cross-functional mitigation plans, and onboarding newly hired Cost Analysts. The role has moderate autonomy, requiring high levels of operational judgment.
The following activities will be part of the responsibilities of the Cost Analyst Team Leader, including on multiple projects in parallel :
Cost Management & Reporting
- Track costs and develop cost execution plans (e.g., cost curves).
- Produce weekly / monthly cost reports and monitor budget variances.
- Maintain budget version control and support Cost-to-Complete estimates.
- Align cost forecasts with project schedules and BOQ quantity tracking.
- Prepare inputs for quarterly / biannual PMR reviews and monitor CTC indicators.
- Analyze cost overruns, risks, and opportunities; recommend and support mitigation plans.
- Provide lessons learned and feedback for future bids and budgets.
Change Orders & Claims
Support change order cost estimates and track actual vs. budgeted spend.Process & Systems
Contribute to cost-control process design, improvements, and functional alignment.Team Leadership
Lead and mentor Cost Analysts, ensuring high-quality cost analysis.Support onboarding, performance feedback, and team development.Collaborate with leadership to align team objectives with organizational goals.Report cost performance and provide insights to project stakeholders.Qualifications / Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Finance, or a closely related technical discipline.Minimum of 5 years of professional experience in Cost Management, Project Management, Engineering, or a related field.In lieu of a degree, a minimum of 10 years of relevant experience in these fields may be considered.Desired Characteristics
Strong background in cost analysis, ideally in manufacturing or gas turbines.Proficiency with financial modeling, cost tracking tools, and project management systems.Strong analytical, communication, and leadership skills.Experience in process improvement and developing cost-control mechanisms.Ability to assess team performance and support professional development.A Master's degree or professional certification (e.g., PMP, CCP, SSBB, CMA, CPIM, PE, FE) is preferred.This role offers a dynamic opportunity to contribute significantly to project success while leading a team dedicated to cost efficiency and strategic improvement in manufacturing projects.
