Responsibilities
- Observe and follow Ormat's environmental and operational rules, procedures and guidelines.
- Strictly adhere to and enforce safety procedures as required by ORMAT, CAPP, and OSHA.
- Welding and fabrication of pipe spools, flanges, fittings and structural items.
- Troubleshoot, repair and maintain mechanical equipment to support plant operations.
- Perform routine and preventative maintenance tasks.
- Provide recommendations for improvements.
- Operate a vehicle in a safe manner, read and understand maps, and remain alert while driving for extended periods.
- Work weekends and holidays when necessary; work overtime as required.
- Travel extensively to other locations, including rural areas and other states to work on projects.
- When assigned as Mechanical Maintenance Technician 2 or 3 : operate a forklift, crane, and / or a backhoe.
Other Responsibilities
Perform environmental and general housekeeping duties.Attend monthly safety and maintenance training.Respond to emergency calls and participate in regular training to improve performance, acquire professional licenses, and maintain required certifications.Perform other duties as directed.When assigned as Mechanical Maintenance Technician 2 or 3 : provide coaching and guidance to junior technicians; process work orders, assist in inventory, and requisition parts and supplies; identify and eliminate organizational weaknesses and unsafe jobsite conditions.When assigned as Mechanical Maintenance Technician 3 : periodically observe fellow technicians to ensure proper procedures, techniques, and safety guidelines are followed.Education, Experience, And Skills Required
Ability to understand procedures and instructions as would be acquired in three to four years of high school.One (1) year of experience in mechanical maintenance or related field.Mechanical Maintenance Technician 2 : Four (4) years of experience in mechanical maintenance or related field.Mechanical Maintenance Technician 3 : Five (5) years of experience in power plant mechanics or related field.Hands-on experience in operations, maintenance and project implementation related to power production, turbine-generators, and auxiliary equipment.Ability to read technical documentation such as piping and instrumentation diagrams, one-line diagrams, and design and analysis reports.Ability to troubleshoot mechanical equipment and systems.Effective communication and reading / writing skills to perform duties safely and efficiently.Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint and general internet use.Must possess a valid driver's license with a driving record acceptable to ORMAT's Safe Driving policy; must be able to operate a vehicle safely.When assigned as Mechanical Maintenance Technician 2 or 3 : may be required to obtain a Class B or Class A CDL – Tank Endorsement.Physical Requirements
May be required to obtain welding certification to fabricate and weld.Lift up to 50 pounds in awkward positions and up to 75 pounds from floor to waist.Climb ladders and work from elevated platforms, ladders and walkways.Work in confined spaces, at heights above 10 feet, and in harsh weather conditions.Wear protective equipment as required.Exposure to hazardous chemicals, electrical currents, gases, dust, and noxious odors.Occasional long periods of sitting or standing with moderate bending, stooping, and kneeling.Seniority level
