Job Responsibilities :

Radio communications with law enforcement officers, fire departments, and ambulance.

Answer 911 calls and dispatch appropriate department

Enter information into CAD

Booking in and care of inmates

General office duties as assigned

Hours :

12 hour day-night rotating shifts (6 am to 6 pm and 6 pm to 6 am)

Standards for Employment

Is a citizen of the United States

Is at least 18 years of age at time of appointment

Has his / her fingerprints taken by a qualified law enforcement officer

Is of good moral character

Is a graduate of an accredited high school or has passed the GED test .

Has not unlawfully used any prescribed drug, controlled substance, or marijuana within one year before the time of application for certification.

Requirements :

Must be able to obtain valid South Dakota drivers license

Become certified in 911 Powerphone dispatch

Attend two week 911 certification school in Pierre within the first year of employment

Must be able to type

Must be able to maintain confidentiality

Be courteous to the public

Remain calm in stressful emergency situations
