The Louisville Free Public Library is currently looking for a Substitute Library Assistant . The candidate for this job will assist library patrons with library services in a substitute capacity. The ideal candidate for this position must be able to work a varied schedule, including evenings and weekends, be available to work at any library as assigned, and provide one’s own source of transportation.
Examples of Duties
- Gives talks to community groups and schools, and directs tours of the library.
- Assists patrons in selecting and locating library materials.
- Answers reference and directional questions from patrons.
- Charges or discharges library materials for patrons.
- Organizes and notifies patrons of reserve materials.
- Prepares and notifies patrons of overdue materials.
- Processes new library materials.
- Prepares and maintains materials for patron use in area of assignment.
- Provides suggestions regarding book selections.
- Plans and conducts programs.
- Performs related work as assigned.
MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
Bachelor’s Degree in English, History, Library Science or related discipline.OTHER MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Must be available to work a varied schedule, including evenings and weekends.Must be available to work at any library branch as assigned.Must provide one's own source of transportation.Must possess and maintain a valid state driver’s license with an acceptable driving history.PHYSICAL DEMANDS
