Pediatric patients may be present but are rare. The overall focus is on high acuity patient management and care standards. Required skills include interpretation of dysrhythmias, management of cardiac drips, and administration of blood products. Candidates must be capable of performing tasks such as central line care, peripheral line management, and IV starts. The role also involves the use of telemetry monitoring systems and other specialized medical equipment. Applicants should be prepared to manage the needs of patients diagnosed with solid tumors, orthopedic oncology, and thoracic oncology. Experience with infection prevention protocols and patient safety measures is essential. Support services available include physical therapy, respiratory services, and pharmacy among others. Successful candidates will demonstrate flexibility as they may be required to float within units of equivalent or lower acuity.
