Certifications : ARRT, BLS (AHA) required

Must-Have : Experience with X-Ray required; Toshiba CT Scanner experience is a plus

Description :

This position assists the radiologist and other physicians with high-quality, computerized tomographic and radiographic images required for the diagnosis and treatment of patients.

Ensures the least amount of radiation exposure to oneself and the patient.

Provides general care to the patient while in the department.

Performs computer tomography studies following protocol.

Is able to differentiate between normal and abnormal anatomy and tailors exams in accordance with patient history obtained, protocol, and radiologist instruction.

Administers IV and oral contrast as required for procedures according to protocols.

Follows departmental protocol and institution guidelines for delivery of IV contrast material.

Monitors patients' physical and mental condition throughout the procedures.

Records all patient data appropriately.

Provides radiation protection for patients, self, and others using gonadal shielding and collimation where applicable.

Documents acknowledgment of scheduling as directed.

Performs nursing duties, including but not limited to assisting the radiologist in the performance of sterile procedures and practicing sterile technique.

Obtains vital signs and pertinent clinical history and must be proficient in venous puncture.

Documents all important data appropriately.

Identifies allergic reactions or any urgent medical conditions and notifies and assists the radiologist in the treatment of such situations.
