Job description

Find your superpower with the Graduate Development Program

National Grid's Graduate Development Program (GDP) is a year-long development program for recent college graduates who aspire to take on future leadership roles in a dynamic, ever-changing industry. Graduates will shape the future of National Grid. Bringing fresh thinking, new perspectives, and exploring with energy, we'll give you real responsibility and an opportunity to move with purpose from day one - putting the power to supercharge your career in your hands.

Graduates start their careers at National Grid with an in-depth 3-week in-person Orientation which gives you exposure to all parts of the company, allows you to network with your Graduate cohort, GDP alumni, and senior leaders, and provides you with the opportunity to travel throughout our service territory in the northeast US. Following Orientation, you'll begin working in full-time position outlined below and take part in ongoing development activities including quarterly development sessions, active mentorship, and a Hackathon Project.

Group Function Rotations

Graduates in our Finance teams will take part in a 12-month exploration. Your first 6 months will be in the role outlined below and you will return to this role following a broadening 6-month placement designed to provide you with a breadth of experience within your functional area and accelerate your progression at National Grid. This placement will provide you with the opportunity to solve complex problems and focus on growth that will transform the energy sector as we know it.

About the Position

Are you ready to dive into the world of finance? As an Associate Analyst, you'll play a key role in preparing Consolidated US GAAP and regulatory filings, including FERC, while also supporting UK IFRS reporting. You'll help prepare financial statements and analytics for a global company, gaining valuable experience in the monthly financial close process. Collaborate with business stakeholders to collect and review financial information, ensuring accurate reporting.

This is a hybrid role, with one day a week in our Brooklyn, New York office (flexible based on meetings and training).

What You'll Do

This is your chance to accelerate your learning and gain insight into how a global company operates financially. You'll develop your reporting skills, receive mentorship, and contribute to transforming the energy industry from a financial perspective! Here's what you'll be up to :

  • Regulatory Expertise : Utilize U.S. GAAP and SEC regulations to implement accurate and effective disclosures.
  • Data Accuracy : Assist in verifying, reconciling, and updating accounts by reviewing discrepancies to produce credible data. Work with business partners to understand financial performance and explain variance drivers.
  • Collaborative Analysis : Partner closely with Regulation and Pricing to analyze the impact of rate plans on financial performance, explaining income statement and balance sheet variances against expected and historical data.
  • Monitoring Performance : Support the monitoring and reporting of income statement, balance sheet, and cash flow variances against budget and historical data to identify anomalies and ensure accuracy.
  • Financial Statement Prep : Help compile and review financial information to prepare quarterly and annual financial statements.
  • Problem Solver : Bring your problem-solving skills to the table to identify inefficiencies and think outside of the box, helping to create impactful solutions that drive efficiency and improvement.

What You'll Need

  • Bachelors or Master's degree from an accredited institution preferably in accounting, finance, or a related field.
  • A solid understanding of accounting principles and practices
  • Graduated between May 2025 and June 2026
  • Ability to begin the National Grid Graduate Program on June 8, 2026, or July 13, 2026
  • Valid driver's license required with a safe driving history that meets National Grid's Safe Driver policy
  • Work authorization that does not now or in the future require sponsorship of a visa for employment authorization in the United States (such as sponsorship for an H-1B, TN, O, L, STEM OPT, or other employment-based work authorization)
  • It would be awesome if you had

  • Experience with SAP to enhance your contributions.
