The Woolfolk Center for Language Disorders Research conducts research projects and provides community support for individuals with language disorders and their families. The mission of the Woolfolk Center is to develop a clinical database of people across the lifespan with communication impairment. We aim to gather comprehensive profiles of individuals with communication impairment to support accurate diagnoses and better understand the commonalities and unique variability among different diagnoses.

Purpose

Serve as a speech-language pathologist assessor for The Woolfolk Center for Language Disorders Research. Assess individuals with language disorders across the lifespan on a battery of assessments related to language, behavior, and processing. Administer assessments with high fidelity and enter data collected into an online database. Score assessments and compose brief evaluation summary reports. Coordinate with school staff and families to schedule and complete assessments. Contact participating families to complete questionnaires.

Responsibilities

Primary role is the implementation of assessment protocols and data collection.

Coordinate with school personnel and families to gather student information and schedule assessments.

Collaborate with the associate director on modifications to the study protocol and data collection process.

Data entry and composition of brief reports of assessment results.

Recruit participants from Austin and surrounding communities, maintain partnerships with school districts and community organizations. Travel to sites to conduct testing including area schools.

Maintain communication with participating families to ensure continuity of data.

Assist with coordination of participant payments.

May provide the supervision, coordination, and management of graduate and undergraduate research assistants hired to assist with projects.

Required Qualifications

MA / MS in the field of speech-language pathology

Texas state licensure

Certificate of clinical competence (clinical fellows considered)

Reliable transportation

Experience with administration of standardized assessments

Excellent interpersonal and communication skills

Demonstrated ability to learn tasks quickly with minimal supervision

Ability to work independently with confidential information

Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience as a pediatric speech-language pathologist

Fluent in Spanish

Past experience working on a research project

Driving Required

This job requires a class "C" operator's driver's license. The applicant selected must provide a current three year driving record from the current state of residence. If not currently a Texas resident, a Texas driver's license must be obtained within 30 days of becoming a Texas resident.

Salary Range

Clinical Fellow : $70,000 + depending on qualifications

With CCC-SLP : $75,000 + depending on qualifications

Employment Eligibility :

Retirement Plan Eligibility :

The retirement plan for this position is Teacher Retirement System of Texas (TRS), subject to the position being at least 20 hours per week and at least 135 days in length.
