Position Summary
The 3rd Shift Floor Technician is responsible for maintaining the cleanliness, appearance, and safety of all production and non-production floor areas within the food manufacturing facility. This role involves operating floor care equipment such as wax strippers, auto scrubbers, and wax applicator machines to strip, seal, and finish floors according to sanitation and safety standards. The technician plays a key role in ensuring a clean and compliant environment that supports food safety and regulatory requirements.
Key Responsibilities
Operate floor care equipment including wax stripper machines, wax applicators, burnishers, and auto-scrubbers in production and warehouse areas.
Strip and refinish floors while maintaining compliance with food safety and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs).
Sweep, mop, and clean designated floor areas to prevent contamination and maintain sanitary conditions.
Safely handle, mix, and store cleaning and finishing chemicals in accordance with OSHA, HACCP, and company policies.
Remove buildup of grease, debris, and residues from production area floors to reduce slip hazards.
Move and replace equipment or barriers as needed to complete floor maintenance tasks safely.
Inspect floor conditions regularly and report any damage, spills, or hazards to the Sanitation Supervisor.
Maintain and clean all floor care machines after use; ensure all tools and materials are properly stored.
Follow all food safety, sanitation, and personal hygiene protocols required in a food processing environment.
Support overall sanitation and housekeeping goals to ensure audit readiness at all times.
Qualifications
Experience : Minimum 1 year of experience in industrial or food manufacturing floor care or sanitation preferred.
Knowledge & Skills :
Experience operating industrial floor maintenance machines.
Understanding of GMPs, HACCP, and food plant sanitation standards.
Knowledge of chemical safety, dilution ratios, and Safety Data Sheets (SDS).
Strong attention to detail and commitment to cleanliness and safety.
Ability to work independently on assigned cleaning routes.
Physical Requirements :
Ability to stand, walk, bend, and operate machinery for long periods.
Lift, push, or pull up to 50 lbs. safely.
Comfortable working in wet, humid, and temperature-variable environments.
Schedule : Must be available to work overnight hours, weekends, and holidays as needed.
