Job Title
Reviews building plans to comply with International Code Council (ICC) codes, as well as local and national regulations. Evaluate and provide building permits, monitor customer communications, and assist with code enforcement policies and procedures.

- Reviews projects and construction plans to ensure compliance with International Building Codes and City codes and ordinances.
- Issues building permits.
- Enforces International Building Codes, and City of Laredo ordinances.
- Provides customer service via email, phone, or in person.
- Prepares comments and feedback for customers, engineers, and designers, based on the International Building Codes, City's Land Development Code, ordinances, and regulations adopted by The City of Laredo.
- Provides software and construction training for customers.
- Performs related work as required

Physical Effort Requirements Position will have the following exposures :

Required Education and Experience :
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Building Construction, Engineering, Architecture, or related field.At least three (3) years of experience in building design, construction, or plan review. Experience with International Building, Mechanical, Plumbing, National Electrical, Fire, Energy, and Residential Codes is preferred.Required Licenses or Certifications :
Valid Texas Driver License. If applicant holds an out-of-state license, a State of Texas Driver License must be obtained within 6 months of employment.International Code Council Building Plan Examiner Certification must be obtained within 12 months of employment.Desirable Licenses or Certifications :
International Code Council 1&2 Family Dwelling Inspector Certification is desirable.International Code Council Building Inspector Certification is desirable.Continued employment is contingent on successfully obtaining required certification(s) and / or license(s) within the specified period of time indicated above from time of hire.
