Overview
We are seeking a hands-on Manufacturing Engineer to support production, process optimization, and continuous improvement initiatives in a fast-paced automotive manufacturing environment. This role works cross-functionally with operations, logistics, quality, and engineering teams to improve material flow, ergonomics, equipment utilization, and overall production efficiency.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related technical field
- 2–3 years of experience in manufacturing, industrial engineering, or a related discipline
- Experience in automotive or high-volume manufacturing environments preferred
- Strong project management skills
- Experience with secondary equipment planning and procurement
- Knowledge of production and factory layout planning
- Proficiency in MS Office; experience with CAD software (AutoCAD preferred)
- Working knowledge of:
- Value Stream Mapping
- Lean Manufacturing / Continuous Improvement methodologies
- Toyota Production System concepts (Poka-Yoke, standard work, waste reduction)
- MTM or REFA methods
- Ergonomics and workplace design
- Strong communication skills and the ability to prioritize in a fast-moving production environment
- Technical, hands-on experience with machinery and manufacturing equipment
- English required; additional languages are a plus
Key Responsibilities
Manufacturing & Process Engineering
- Plan and optimize material flow in collaboration with logistics and production teams
- Design and specify workstations and production layouts with a focus on ergonomics and efficiency
- Develop value stream maps, flow diagrams, and production layouts
- Support the introduction of new manufacturing technologies and processes
- Collaborate on product designs to ensure manufacturability
- Develop and participate in process FMEAs
- Work closely with technical and quality teams to support manufacturing readiness
Equipment & Capital Projects
- Determine requirements for secondary equipment and special machinery
- Create specifications for equipment and automation solutions
- Oversee equipment build, installation, acceptance, and production launch
- Support commissioning and ramp-up activities
Project & Continuous Improvement Work
- Manage project timelines, costs, and documentation
- Plan and execute productivity, efficiency, and optimization projects
- Participate in design FMEAs and process development activities
- Develop process sequences and test plans in coordination with Quality
- Support Kaizen and continuous improvement initiatives
- Provide daily production startup and ongoing series support
- Conduct MTM analyses and implement efficiency improvements
- Optimize special processes, equipment, and value streams
