Teaching Assistant

Life Skills is seeking a full time, certified teaching assistant. Life Skills Preschool (founded in 1968) is a special education preschool located in a residential area in Whitestone, NY. Life Skills is a program recognized by both the New York State Education Department and the New York State Health Department to service children ages three to five years of age who have special needs. The ideal candidate for this position enjoys working with children, understands how they learn and is dedicated to creating a nurturing learning atmosphere.

• Teacher Assistant Responsibilities
• Collaborate with teachers to monitor the development of each child
• Help to develop programs of learning activities and adapting appropriate materials
• Work with children in the classroom to promote their learning and development based on their individual learning needs
• Reinforce lessons presented by teachers by reviewing material with students one-on-one or in small groups
