JOB SUMMARY :

The Associate Director for Residential Living is a full-time staff member within Clemson Home. Serves as a primary facilitator of a high-quality residential environment that facilitates opportunities for community, connection, learning, and competency building. Collaborates with LLC, academic and campus partners, as well as other applicable departments. Provides overall leadership, supervision, and management of full-time, mid-level staff. Enhances strategic partnerships and alignments within functional area(s) of Clemson Home, Division of Student Affairs, and external University partners. Other duties as assigned

JOB DUTIES :

30% - Essential - Staff Supervision & Leadership - Participates in and leads efforts to recruit, select, train, & evaluate a dedicated staff that includes full-time professionals, administrative staff, graduate assistants, and undergraduate student employees. Provides direct supervision to full-time, mid-level staff; provides in-direct supervision and accountability for all other positions. Promotes & encourages staff professional development & involvement in relevant professional associations. Designs curriculum content for and participates in annual training sessions of full-time, graduate & undergraduate staff. Assists with curriculum development and instruction of EDSA 3900. Leads graduate student practicum.

25% - Essential - Experiential Learning - Leads staff in the facilitation and implementation of a residentially-based curriculum to create an environment for student learning & growth through specific learning goals & outcomes. Enhances partnerships with faculty & academic partners through living-learning communities and the like. Serves as a primary partner to Fraternity Sorority Life in providing an on-campus residential experience for assigned chapters. Facilitates programs & services that enhance retention. Prioritizes effective, dynamic learning opportunities for staff through training.

20% - Essential - Department and Division Initiatives and partnerships : The Associate Director is responsible for navigating a broad range of department and division initiatives and partnerships to ensure that Residential Living is well aligned to provide an excellent residential student experience. Specific attention for this position will be given to strategic planning that aligns with University, division, and departmental goals and strategic objectives.

15% - Essential - Crisis Management and Student Care : Serves as second-tier full-time staff in a 24-hour on-call rotation, managing crises & concerns for 7,600 students. Makes decisions related to facilities and student concerns and emergencies; confirms approval for interim relocations and other high level decisions. Manages safety and security protocol. Communicates and coordinates with Advocacy & Success and Office of Community and Ethical Standards regarding shared protocols. May serve in roles that require larger University response (via the Emergency Management Committee (EMC) 4-deep response list and the like).

10% - Essential - Judicial Administration : Receives and reviews all incident reports to ensure accuracy and proper documentation. Follows up with staff to ensure proper protocols are followed. Ensures staff understands, upholds, and enforces University policies and procedures. Meets with students in role as conduct hearing officer to address behavior and impact to persons and the community; meets with students regarding behavioral concerns. Investigates individual and communal billing reports and assigns fines and sanctions. Assists in navigation of Fraternity and Sorority Housing response protocols specific to on-campus chapters.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS :

Education - Bachelor's Degree and experience in student services programs.

Work Exp 3+ years

PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS :

Education - Master's Degree

Work Exp 5+ years

Provides Budget Input - Provides input into the budgeting process, and oversees fund allocation.

COMPENSATION INFORMATION

Expected Salary Range ($ 47,588.00 - $ 78,807.00)

Salary is dependent upon several factors including, but not limited to, a candidate's previous experience, knowledge, skills and performance in accordance with Clemson's compensation guidelines.

ESSENTIAL PERSONNEL LEVEL

Essential Level 2 employee

Required to maintain / resume essential support functions, deliver direct care services, and / or provide recovery support before normal operations resume. Some positions in this category may be required to work remotely or be on-call.
