Description :

The Registered Nurse (RN) is a licensed professional responsible for coordinating patient care delivery by the healthcare team.

Using the nursing process, the RN assesses patients and identifies nursing diagnoses based on responses to health problems.

The RN develops and implements an individualized plan of care and evaluates the patient's response.

The RN promotes safe passage for patients by using knowledge of patient needs and the healthcare environment to assist patients in transitioning through their healthcare experiences.

The RN delegates interventions to healthcare personnel based on practice standards and the competencies of each employee.

This RN role applies to staff in hospital inpatient and outpatient departments with 24 / 7 staffing requirements.

Examples of applicable procedural areas include GI Lab, Pain Management, Dialysis, and Infusion Services.

Essential functions include :

Conducting accurate clinical assessments according to practice standards.

Identifying and prioritizing patient and family needs.

Developing, implementing, and evaluating the nursing plan of care.

Modifying plans to meet clinical outcomes.

Systematically evaluating the quality and effectiveness of nursing practice and participating in quality and performance improvement initiatives.

Creating a supportive and therapeutic environment for patients and families.

Developing therapeutic relationships and managing pain to promote comfort and healing.

Recognizing and incorporating individual patient differences into care plans.

Preserving and protecting the confidentiality and rights of patients and families.

Facilitating patient and family learning to help them participate in healthcare decisions.

Collaborating with colleagues to develop integrated care plans.

Using strategies and resources for effective problem-solving in patient care delivery.

Improving nursing practice through participation in governance and decision-making processes.

Demonstrating commitment to community service and ongoing professional growth through education and networking.

Knowledge and understanding of nursing standards and procedures, laws, and regulations are essential.

Interpersonal skills to interact with a wide range of constituents are necessary.

Critical thinking and problem-solving abilities are required to observe and communicate changes in patient conditions effectively.

General computer skills are necessary for documentation and communication.
