Hospice Director of Nursing - Pacific Hospice & Palliative Care

Pacific Hospice and Palliative Care has an immediate opening for a compassionate, experienced, and dynamic Director of Nursing (DON) to lead our hospice clinical team. This is an exciting opportunity for a nursing professional who is committed to excellence in patient care, team development, and regulatory compliance in a professional, positive and growing hospice environment. As our DON, you will provide leadership that ensures every patient and family receives the highest level of care, dignity, and support during lifes most important moments.

Position Summary

The Hospice Director of Nursing is responsible for the overall clinical operations of the hospice program. This role provides leadership, guidance, and supervision to the nursing staff and interdisciplinary team to ensure quality, compliance, and compassionate care. The DON will work closely with the Medical Director, Administrator, and other leaders to promote a culture of excellence, teamwork, and accountability.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership and direction to the hospice nursing and clinical teams.
  • Ensure delivery of high-quality, compassionate care to patients and families.
  • Oversee clinical policies, procedures, and compliance with state, federal, and accreditation standards.
  • Supervise and mentor nursing staff; provide ongoing education, training, and performance evaluations.
  • Coordinate patient care in collaboration with physicians, social workers, chaplains, and other members of the interdisciplinary team.
  • Develop and monitor quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient outcomes and satisfaction.
  • Maintain accurate clinical documentation and ensure timely reporting.
  • Participate in strategic planning and contribute to the growth and success of the hospice program.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 35 years of Hospice Director of Nursing experience
  • Current, unencumberedRegistered Nurse (RN) license in the State of Texas.
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required; Masters degree preferred.
  • In-depth knowledge of Medicare / Medicaid hospice regulations and compliance standards.
  • Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Bilingual - Spanish / English speaking a plus.
  • Compassionate, patient-centered approach with the ability to support patients, families, and staff.
