Description : Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) – Assisted Living

Department : Courtyard Villa Assisted Living

Reports To : Assisted Living Nurse Manager

FLSA Status : Non-Exempt

Facility : Hand County Memorial Hospital, Miller, SD

$7,500+ sign-on bonus available for qualified applicants with a three-year employment commitment to Courtyard Villa Assisted Living. Bonus amount is determined based on experience and will be discussed during the hiring process.

Position Summary

The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) provides professional nursing care to residents within the scope of practice defined by the South Dakota Board of Nursing and facility policies. The LPN assists in the planning, implementation, and evaluation of resident care plans, ensures accurate documentation, and promotes the physical and emotional well-being of all residents. This position collaborates closely with the Nurse Manager, residents, families, and interdisciplinary staff to deliver safe and compassionate care.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Provide daily nursing care and supervision to residents following the established plan of care.

Administer medications and treatments accurately, documenting per facility protocol.

Observe and record changes in residents’ conditions, promptly reporting to the Nurse Manager and physician as needed.

Participate in care plan development and revision based on resident assessments and goals.

Communicate effectively with residents, families, and healthcare team members to ensure continuity of care.

Maintain accurate, up-to-date resident medical records and documentation.

Assist in orientation and mentoring of new nursing staff and caregivers.

Promote compliance with infection control and safety policies.

Attend staff meetings, in-service training, and assigned committees.

Uphold confidentiality and residents’ rights in all interactions.

Basic computer literacy (Windows-based charting or EMR systems)

Work Environment

Work performed primarily indoors within an assisted living facility

Regular contact with residents, families, staff, and visitors

Possible exposure to blood, body fluids, infectious diseases, and cleaning chemicals

Must be able to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, holidays, or on-call as needed

Must maintain professionalism during stressful or emotional situations

Requirements : Education & Licensure Requirements

Hold active LPN licensure in SD and CPR certification .

Be physically and mentally capable of performing all essential job functions.

Possess strong communication, organization, and clinical nursing skills .

Be willing to work flexible hours, handle stressful or emotional situations, and comply with facility standards and regulations.

Physical Requirements

Ability to lift, move, or transfer up to 40 pounds frequently

Frequent standing, walking, bending, kneeling, and reaching

Manual dexterity for nursing tasks and computer entry

Clear vision, hearing, and speech required for safe resident care
