The mechanic will be responsible for inspecting equipment, conducting repairs, and providing routine maintenance.

- Primary Responsibilities :
- Inspecting trucks and equipment for proper performance.
- Diagnosing faults using computerized testing equipment, if needed.
- Adjusting equipment and replacing faulty parts.
- Cleaning, lubricating, and conducting routine services on heavy-duty vehicles / equipment.
- Performing major repair work when necessary.
- Consulting with other mechanics on smaller jobs.
- Reporting damaged or faulty equipment to management.
- Required Skills / Abilities :
- Knowledge of the standard practices, materials, tools, and equipment used in the repair and maintenance of motor vehicles and equipment.
- Knowledge of safety issues in the use of tools, equipment, and supplies used in repair of motorized vehicles and equipment.
- Skill in the use of a variety of hand tools.
- Skill in the use of mechanized tools, jacks, and hoists.
- Skill in the use of a variety of diagnostic testing and tuning equipment.
- Ability to diagnose mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic malfunctions.
- Ability to read manuals and schematics.
- Ability to rebuild engines and major driveline components.
- Ability to communicate with other mechanics about repair work needed.
- Ability to enter repair information in fleet maintenance management software.
- Education and Experience :
- High school diploma or GED.
- Certification as a heavy equipment mechanic (preferred).
- Proven work experience as a diesel or heavy equipment mechanic.
- Understanding of computer testing technologies.
- CDL (preferred).
- Good communication skills
