Custodial Services Training Manager
This position supports the implementation of industry standards and procedures for UI Custodial Services and plays a vital role in maintaining clean, safe and well-maintained University facilities. The incumbent will demonstrate responsiveness, adaptability and professionalism while onboarding new staff, conducting regular building inspections, assisting with equipment repair, responding to emergencies, managing projects and performing seasonal tasks such as snow removal. This is an essential position that will be called upon in the event of an emergency and / or university closure. Duties may include :
- Training new staff
- Inspect buildings to determine cleaning and training deficiencies
- Supervise day customer response and weekend team
- Provide general support to custodial teams through equipment repair, weekend cleaning and recycling
- Maintain communication with building occupants and coworkers, addressing any concerns or special requests promptly
- Other duties as assigned
Required Experience :
Three years performing custodial duties, including working with industrial cleaning chemicals and heavy-duty cleaning equipmentTwo years performing supervisory and / or training dutiesUsing computer software and applications for word processing, email, spreadsheets and internet searchesRequired Education :
High School Diploma or equivalentRequired Other :
Possess a valid drivers license and be able to meet policy requirements for driving university-owned vehiclesAbility to respond to emergency calls within 60 minutes and serve on weekend call-out duty on a regular rotationAbility to work nonstandard business hours which may include evenings, weekends and holidaysISSA Supervisory Certification or completion of certification within six months of hireAdditional Preferred :
Experience in the hospitality service industry, or Health CareExperience training custodial and / or maintenance staffExperience with managing a large custodial staff or related operations and servicesDeveloping operating policies and proceduresExperience with current custodial techniques, standards and management practicesAbility to communicate effectively both verbally and in writingPhysical Requirements & Working Conditions :
