American Traveler seeks an experienced ICU RN with a valid AZ or compact license and at least 3 years of recent ICU experience, including neuro or CV, for a Level 1 trauma setting.
\n \n Responsibilities\n
Position is in a Level 1 trauma Intensive Care Unit within an acute hospitalPatient population includes surgical, trauma, neuro-surgical, cardiac, medical, and COVID / ARDS casesUnits include Surgical ICU, Medical / Cardiac ICU, and a 12-bed overflow ICU with expected floating between all ICUsNurse-to-patient ratios are typically 1 : 2 or 1 : 1, with charge nurses not taking assignmentsRNs will titrate various drips including vasoactive, sedation, analgesic, and insulin infusionsRNs are required to interpret their own cardiac strips using GE monitorsNo monitor techs or nurse aides, except for sitters and Health Unit SecretariesEMR system in use is CernerRespiratory Therapists are in ICU 24 / 7; commonly used equipment includes Dreager, Hamilton, Puritan Bennett 840, V60s Bipap, and AirvoSchedule consists of 12-hour day shifts with self-scheduling; expected to work up to 3 weekends per monthNo additional call or standby requirements, though low census may occur up to 3 times per contractFloating may be required to telemetry with a 1 : 3 or 1 : 4 ratio or to a sister facility as neededDress code requires navy scrubsDuties include caring for critically ill and trauma patients, titrating complex drips, and using advanced life support equipmentSkill validation for trauma, neuro, and specialty devices will occur during orientationMust be able to float among three ICUs and to telemetry or a nearby sister facility as requiredHoliday coverage may be required with the possibility of one holiday off per assignmentFirst-time travelers will be considered if they meet the experience requirementsExpect a team environment with 24 / 7 intensivist and respiratory therapy supportSterile technique for Foley catheter insertion and central line dressing changes will be tested during initial orientation, with a maximum of two attempts allowed\n \n Requirements\n
Active AZ or compact RN license in hand prior to consideration; no pending licenses acceptedMinimum 3 years of recent ICU nursing experience, including either neuro or cardiovascular casesCurrent certifications in BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS requiredMust pass a dysrhythmia exam within 24-48 hours prior to acceptance with a maximum of two attemptsMust successfully complete a pass / fail simulation lab on Day 1 of orientationMust provide two professional references, including one supervisor from the past 12 months and another peer or supervisor from the past three yearsMust submit copy of driver's license for eligibilityCandidates must reside at least 50 miles from the facilityCandidates must not have worked for any CommonSpirit, CHI, or Dignity facility in any capacity within the past year\n Benefits\n
