About The Position
We are seeking an experienced Cardiovascular and Thoracic Surgery Physician Assistant for a 66-day locum tenens assignment in New Hampshire starting Jan 12, 2026. This role involves a schedule of four 10-hour shifts per week with midweek and weekend call rotations. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in surgical first assist, particularly in cardiovascular and thoracic cases, and must be proficient in vein and artery harvesting, managing chest tubes, and perioperative patient care in ICU settings.

Responsibilities and Duties
Conduct preoperative evaluations including H&Ps, ordering and interpreting diagnostic tests, obtaining consents, and preparing patients for surgeryServe as surgical first assist for CABG, valve repairs / replacements, lobectomy, aneurysm repair, and other thoracic proceduresPerform vein and artery harvesting (e.g., saphenous, radial)Control hemostasis, close wounds, and manage chest tubes intraoperativelyProvide postoperative management in ICU and step-down units, including rounding, managing drains and wounds, and monitoring for complicationsEducate patients and coordinate discharges according to surgical protocolsDemonstrate strong knowledge of cardiac anatomy and perioperative patient managementAdditional Information
Minimum 2–3 years of experience as a surgical first assist, preferably in cardiovascular or thoracic surgeryAdvanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification requiredMust hold or be eligible for licensure as a Physician Assistant in New HampshireBenefits
