Greenfield Engineering, a Saalex Company, is seeking a CNS / ATM Certification Engineer in Patuxent River, MD. The CNS / ATM Certification Engineer will be responsible for ensuring naval aviation platforms achieve and maintain compliance with Communications, Navigation, and Surveillance / Air Traffic Management (CNS / ATM) requirements across the system lifecycle. The incumbent leads the development, review, and verification of certification artifacts and airworthiness documentation supporting Performance Based Navigation (PBN) , 8.33 kHz Channel Spacing , Reduced Vertical Separation Minimums (RVSM) , Automatic Dependent Surveillance–Broadcast (ADS-B Out) , and Mode Select (Mode S) capabilities. This role requires strong technical depth, meticulous traceability, and effective coordination across multiple platform customers.

Salary : $130k-$155k annually (depending upon experience)
Work Location : Onsite at Patuxent River, MD with the potential for some telework.
Essential Functions :
- Develop, review, and validate CNS / ATM certification artifacts, including compliance matrices, safety assessments, performance analyses, data package updates, and supporting evidence aligned to ICAO, FAA, RTCA, and military standards.
- Support airworthiness approvals by ensuring certification data demonstrates compliance with PBN, ADS-B, RVSM, 8.33 kHz, and Mode S operational performance criteria.
- Coordinate with Systems Engineering, Flight Clearance, Airworthiness, Test, and OEM stakeholders to consolidate certification requirements and artifacts into a concise package to be certified by technical area SMEs.
- Evaluate engineering changes (hardware / software) for their impact on CNS / ATM certification status and update compliance documentation accordingly.
- Maintain authoritative CNS / ATM certification baselines, ensuring traceability between requirements, verification activities, and delivered systems.
- Provide technical expertise to platform IPTs on regulatory frameworks, emerging standards, and certification implications for integrated avionics solutions.
- Monitor system integration events, ground / flight tests, and data analysis activities supporting certification and operational suitability assessments.

Requirements
Required :
Strong understanding of CNS / ATM Military and Civil standards and guidance.Familiarity with airworthiness processes, including certification basis development, compliance showing, verification planning, and Flight Clearance documentation.Ability to interpret and apply regulatory and performance-based requirements to avionics system integration, testing, and certification activities.Proficiency in requirements management and certification data tools such as Confluence, DOORS, JIRA, Teams, or equivalent platform or vendor systems.Demonstrated superior organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple concurrent certification efforts across diverse aircraft platforms.Strong written and verbal communication skills for coordination with platform customers, IPT leadership, OEMs, and external regulatory stakeholders.Ability to synthesize complex engineering and regulatory data into clear, auditable certification documentation suitable for airworthiness review authorities.10+ years of related experienceBS Degree in Engineering required.Security Clearance :
Active Secret clearance required. Requirements to obtain a clearance include US Citizenship, security investigation, etc.
Education :
BS Degree in Engineering and 10+ years of experience required.
