Rigger
Candidates for Rigger will be trained in the following requirements :
- Selection and use of wire rope, chain and synthetic web slings, rigging hardware, and lifting devices
- Interpretation of rated charts for rigging gear
- Safe rigging practices and procedures
- Hand and radio communications and the responsibilities of the Rigger in Charge
- Determination of weight and center of gravity of loads
- Selection and use of hoists, chain falls and come-alongs
- Lifting and Handling gear inspection
Using the above acquired skills the rigger will be expected to support the following shipbuilding processes :
Support the assembly and disassembly of machinery and equipment on and off the shipsResponsible for lifting, moving and positioning ships and shipyard machinery, equipment, structural parts and other heavy loadsRig nuclear componentsWorking under radiological controls (obtain and work with a TLD).
