About The Position

Job Title : Registered Nurse

License : Currently licensed as a Registered Nurse in the state or holds a current compact / multi-state license as a Registered Nurse in a recognized compact state.

Certifications : Must have a current American Heart Association BLS for Healthcare Provider Card.

Must-Have : Ability to scrub and circulate.

Description :

To provide nursing care for patients following established standards and practices in accordance with the Nurse Practice Act.

To apply professional nursing theory and practice to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care.

Constant interaction with internal and external customers, including patients, families, physicians, employees, and visitors.

Responsibilities include :

Performing patient assessments reflecting physical, psychological, socio-cultural, spiritual, cognitive needs, and functional abilities through systematic collection and review of patient-specific data and communicate assessments appropriately.

Planning and prioritizing care based on assessment, evaluating patient progress, and revising care to attain expected outcomes.

Include patient / family in planning care and evaluating programs and outcomes.

Demonstrating clinical competencies in specific areas of practice as described in departmental performance standards.

Assessing patient / family learning needs, planning and providing education, and evaluating the effectiveness of teaching in achieving desired outcomes.

Identifying and responding appropriately to ethical issues in patient care.

Providing nursing care in a non-judgmental manner that respects patient diversity and acknowledges patient rights.

Serves as a resource to others in addressing ethical dilemmas in patient care.

Initiating collaborative dialogue with physicians and coordinating multidisciplinary activities to plan, deliver, and evaluate patient care.

Acting as a patient advocate.

Providing nursing care in a manner that respects patient diversity and acknowledges patient rights, while identifying resources to meet unique patient needs.

Ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements, core measures, patient safety, and quality initiatives to achieve optimal clinical and organizational outcomes.

Performing other duties and responsibilities as required.

Schedule includes 12 weekday calls and 1-2 weekend calls in a 6-week schedule.

Skills required include :

Knowledge of professional nursing theory and practice to give and evaluate patient care.

Knowledge of organizational policies and procedures to administer patient care.

Knowledge of common safety hazards and precautions to establish a safe work environment.

Skill in applying and modifying the principles, methods, and techniques of professional nursing to provide ongoing patient care.

Skill in identifying problems and recommending solutions.

Skill in preparing and maintaining records and writing reports.

Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with patients and the public.

Ability to analyze situations and apply critical thinking.

Ability to communicate clearly.

Ability to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations.

Education :

For positions providing direct patient care with the nursing assessment requirement : BSN preferred or required within five years of hire date.

Graduate of an accredited school or college of nursing is required.

Current RN teammates transferring to a different position in the same department will not be required to complete BSN within five years of transfer date.

Work Environment :

Frequent standing, walking, bending, crouching, and stooping.

Requires frequent lifting / moving of patients and occasional lifting / moving or carrying, pushing, or pulling up to 50 lbs.

Involves frequent use of finger / hand dexterity and constant reaching with hands / arms.

Requires frequent talking or hearing with corrected hearing and vision to normal range.

Exposure to blood, body fluids, or tissue and possible exposure to infectious materials and communicable diseases.

Moderate noise level in work area and requires work under stressful conditions, deadlines, or irregular hours.

May be required to take call and / or work weekends / holidays based on departmental needs.
