Job Description

Title: Resource Manager

Department: Resource Management - Attest

Supervises: N/A

Role Type: Full-time

Location: New York, NY (Hybrid)

ABOUT THE COMPANY:

Anchin is a New York City based Certified Public Accounting and Consulting firm with a Long Island and Florida presence that provides expert financial advisory to companies across a diverse range of industries. We offer a full range of integrated accounting, consulting and business management services from tax planning and audits to the most detailed analysis of acquisitions and financial restructuring.

Anchin is consistently recognized as one of the "Best of the Best" accounting firms in the country, a Best Place to Work in New York City and New York State, and a Best Accounting Firm to Work For Nationwide.

ABOUT THE POSITION:

Anchin is seeking an experienced Resource Manager to join our growing team. This individual will oversee day-to-day staffing and scheduling for the Attest department while also playing a strategic role in designing scalable, long-term solutions that support firm growth and team development.

The ideal candidate is strategic yet hands-on, calm under pressure, and thrives in a collaborative, fast-paced environment. This position will work closely with professionals at all levels — from staff to Partner — along with key stakeholders including the Managing Director, Head of Attest, COO, CHRO, HR Business Partners, and CTO.

This is more than a scheduling role. You will play a critical part in shaping career experiences, balancing business priorities, and supporting the delivery of exceptional client service across the firm.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Strategically schedule Attest professionals on engagements based on skill sets, availability, client deadlines, complexity, and consideration to industry assignment.
  • Develop a deep understanding of the Attest department's business goals to help prioritize resources effectively.
  • Resolve scheduling conflicts by partnering with engagement teams to develop workable, team-supported solutions.
  • Monitor staff workloads, identify imbalances, and deploy resources to maximize productivity and minimize burnout.
  • Analyze utilization and scheduling reports to identify trends, gaps, and opportunities; communicate insights to industry and department leadership.
  • Regularly prepare staffing-related reports and strategic updates for senior leadership.
  • Lead and facilitate career mapping discussions to support staff development, progression, and retention.
  • Lead capacity forecasting and annual FTE planning.
  • Collaborate with Attest leadership to plan for various business situations such as early work compression, regulatory shifts, M&A volume changes, etc. (Scenario planning).
  • Monitor and support career-growth readiness by ensuring rising staff are provided stretch opportunities.
  • Use judgement, active listening skills, and feedback in daily interactions to identify and communicate needs for staff mentoring and support as they arise.
  • Proactively address staffing-related concerns including morale, performance, and career alignment.
  • Collaborate with HR on performance matters, onboarding, and employee experience improvements.
  • Assist with the onboarding of new hires to ensure seamless integration into project schedules and team culture.
  • Monitor leveraging, review with assigned team leads, and work with teams to ensure job assignments fall within Firm leveraging protocols.
  • Monitor staff to partner ratio on assigned and new work to ensure staff and in-charges are not assigned across too many Partners.
  • Connect with Staff regularly to understand scheduled to actual variances.
  • Provide guidance to Staff regarding Firm Resource Management protocols and expectations.
  • Run weekly RM meetings as necessary to review schedules, assignments, bottlenecks, staffing trends, capacity (over/under) for following two weeks.
  • Champion full and accurate use of scheduling and timekeeping systems.
  • Proactively identify inefficiencies in scheduling and approval workflows and recommend enhancements.
  • Lead early preparation and firm-wide coordination of busy season planning.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree required.

Experience:

  • 5-10 years of experience in a professional services or public accounting environment, preferably in resource management or client-service roles.
  • 5+ years of direct resource management experience strongly preferred.
  • Hands-on experience with scheduling tools such as Dayshape, Retain, or similar platforms.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.

Compensation:

  • Competitive annual salary in the range of $125,000 to $150,000 based on the individual's experience level.

Anchin provides comprehensive benefits, which you can view here.

Key Attributes:

  • Strategic Thinker: Able to balance immediate needs with long-term talent planning.
  • Even-Tempered Leader: Maintains composure under pressure and fosters trust through consistency and professionalism.
  • Problem Solver: Thinks creatively and adapts quickly to shifting priorities or constraints.
  • Collaborative Communicator: Builds strong relationships with team members, leadership, and cross-functional partners.
  • Action-Oriented: Proactively identifies and tackles challenges without waiting for direction.
  • Resilient: Remains focused and optimistic in the face of complexity or resistance.
  • Discreet and Ethical: Handles sensitive information with confidentiality and integrity.
  • Detail-Oriented Organizer: Manages multiple moving parts with clarity, timeliness, and accountability.

WHY JOIN ANCHIN?

At Anchin, we believe in empowering our people through meaningful work, thoughtful career development, and a culture rooted in collaboration and trust. This role offers a unique opportunity to influence not only operations but also the professional journeys of our talented Attest team.
