The Oregon Certified Combination Building Inspector performs skilled technical inspections of residential, commercial, and industrial buildings to ensure compliance with state and local building codes, ordinances, and regulations. This role involves reviewing construction plans, conducting on-site inspections, and collaborating with contractors, architects, and property owners to maintain safety and quality standards. The position requires at least 5 years of experience as a certified building inspector and Oregon state certification as a Combination Building Inspector with the OIC License. Must have Residential Electrical and Plumbing Certifications. Those with SEI and SPI are preferred. 5 Years minimum residential and commercial inspection, 3 years minimum experience with Residential Plan Review. Key Responsibilities Conduct thorough inspections of buildings at various stages of construction, alteration, or repair to verify compliance with Oregon Building Codes, including structural, plumbing, mechanical, and electrical systems. Review and interpret construction plans, blueprints, and specifications to ensure adherence to applicable codes and standards. Identify and document code violations, issue correction notices, and provide guidance to contractors and property owners to resolve issues. Maintain accurate and detailed records of inspections, findings, and actions taken, using electronic reporting systems as required. Collaborate with other departments, such as planning and zoning, to ensure coordinated compliance with municipal regulations. Provide technical advice and support to contractors, architects, engineers, and the public regarding code requirements and best practices. Investigate complaints and reports of unsafe or non-compliant construction activities and recommend corrective actions. Stay current with updates to Oregon Specialty Codes, national standards (e.g., IBC, IRC, NEC, NFPA), and industry best practices through ongoing training and professional development. Prepare reports and present findings to supervisors, building officials, or municipal boards as needed. Ensure workplace safety by adhering to OSHA regulations and local safety protocols during inspections. Three year minimum employee contract is required for employment.
