Description :

The Emergency Department has a total of 37 beds, including 4 in a secure psychiatric area.

There are 25 procedure rooms and 8 hallway beds utilized 24 / 7.

The unit has a diverse staff of 88 individuals.

The unit operates with a patient ratio of 4 : 1, with flexibility during acute surges.

Required equipment includes ultrasound, IV skills, Lucas device, Hotline rapid infuser, Alaris pumps, and Pyxis.

The patient population includes individuals with multiple comorbidities and complex conditions.

Some typical procedures performed within the unit are trauma care, stroke care, laceration repair, orthopedic trauma, ultrasound, IV insertion, IO insertion, eye exams, EKGs, psychiatric care, and cardiopulmonary care.

Ideal candidates are motivated, hard workers, creative problem solvers, and have a general desire to help and care for patients.

RNs will work with policy-written protocols based on chief complaints.

They will be able to order complete workups of labs, EKGs, x-rays, and medications based on protocols to initiate patient care.

Weekends will be scheduled every other weekend for contract labor and every third weekend for hired staff.
