Peer Recovery Specialist

Location : Havre de Grace, MD | Full-Time | Department : Patient and Community Support Services

Are you passionate about making a difference in the lives of individuals on their recovery journey? Ashley Addiction Treatment is seeking a Peer Recovery Specialist to join our compassionate and mission-driven team.

In this vital role, you'll support patients throughout their treatment journey—providing individualized peer support, facilitating group discussions, and connecting patients with essential recovery resources. As a key member of the treatment team, you'll be part of an organization committed to quality care, patient advocacy, and lifelong healing.

What You’ll Do :

Maintain an active caseload and meet regularly with patients for 1 : 1 peer support sessions. Serve as a trusted mentor and advocate through the patient’s entire treatment episode. Facilitate community topic groups, experiential workshops, and peer-led discussions. Collaborate with clinicians and other team members to develop and implement effective discharge and continuing care plans. Assist with patient intake and transportation, creating a welcoming and safe environment for all. Contribute to safety, documentation, and communication procedures to support effective, high-quality care.

What You Bring :

Maryland Certified Peer Recovery Specialist (CPRS) certification (required). 1+ year of experience in a substance use disorder (SUD) or behavioral health setting. High school diploma or GED (Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree preferred). CPR / BLS and CPI certifications (required or willingness to obtain). Valid driver’s license with clean driving record. Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to set healthy boundaries and provide ethical, compassionate care. A commitment to multiple pathways of recovery, including 12-step, SMART, and peer recovery models.
