Job description
Transform Lives Through Communication in the Dynamic City of Cleveland - Become a Speech Language Pathologist with Us

Overview

Imagine a career that not only provides you the opportunity to heal but also helps you foster connections and empower people through their voices. In this role as a Speech Language Pathologist in vibrant Cleveland, your contributions will go beyond treating communication and swallowing disorders; you will enhance lives and encourage independence from the very first step. From young children experiencing the excitement of speech development to older adults regaining their ability to communicate effectively, your impact will resonate deeply.

Here, you will have a chance to work within a diverse community, addressing a spectrum of needs across different ages. Whether your passion lies in helping children overcome speech delays, assisting adults with neurogenic disorders, or supporting seniors in cognitive rehabilitation, you'll discover a rewarding pathway filled with personal and professional growth, as well as a flexible approach to therapy.

Description
  • Conduct comprehensive evaluations for varied populations including pediatric, adult, and geriatric clients relying on both standardized assessments and keen observational skills.
  • Craft individualized treatment plans targeting both immediate and longer-term communication, cognitive, or swallowing objectives.
  • Deliver engaging speech therapy interventions individually focused on areas such as communication skills, language comprehension, fluency, voice modulation, and swallowing safety.
  • Work closely alongside a dedicated team of physical therapists, occupational therapists, nurses, physicians, caregivers, and family members to ensure comprehensive care approaches.
  • Provide guidance and education to patients and families to reinforce therapeutic progress outside the therapy environment.
  • Participate in occasional inpatient evaluations and interventions to support continuous patient care throughout the rehabilitation process.
  • Maintain up-to-date and precise documentation following all local, state, and organizational regulations.
  • Engage in continued professional development and keep abreast of advances in speech pathology through ongoing education and peer networking.
Education
  • Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited institution.
  • Completion of a supervised Clinical Fellowship Year (CFY) required if ASHA certification is not yet achieved.
Certifications
  • Valid state licensure as a Speech Language Pathologist.
  • Preferred: Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC-SLP) from ASHA.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification to be obtained within 30 days of employment.
Skills
  • Adept in evidence-based methodologies applicable across all ages; strong understanding of various developmental and acquired speech, language, and swallowing disorders.
  • Exemplary communication skills allowing for effective interaction with patients, families, and multidisciplinary healthcare teams.
  • Capacity to tailor therapeutic approaches to cater to diverse cultural and linguistic backgrounds.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills that enhance clinical judgment.
  • Proficient in navigating electronic medical records and maintaining documentation standards.
Benefits
  • Attractive compensation package reflective of experience.
  • Flexible scheduling options that promote work-life harmony and diversity in caseloads.
  • Opportunities to delve into specialized areas including pediatrics, adult neuro rehabilitation, or geriatric therapy.
  • Paid time off (PTO) alongside holiday compensation.
  • Comprehensive health benefits including medical, dental, vision, and life insurance.
  • Support for continuing education and professional growth initiatives.
  • Empowering team environment centered around collaborative care and continuous learning.

A Journey of Impact Awaits You

In this role, you don't just deliver therapy, but you become a vital part of a mission to amplify voices, foster communication, and create moments of joy through the exquisite art of human interaction.

You'll join a united group of clinicians who view one another as allies rather than competitors, in a culture that celebrates collaboration and supports the success of everyone involved. Each person you help has a narrative - and we're counting on you to assist in crafting that story.

Why Cleveland is Your Next Adventure

The landscape here in Cleveland is as diverse as the city itself, offering both hustle and tranquility. Recognized for its rich cultural heritage and thriving culinary scene, this city boasts vibrant neighborhoods filled with entertainment, art, and outdoor activities. With Lake Erie's refreshing shores creating a beautiful backdrop, weekend excursions include sailing, picnicking in lush parks, or visiting one of the many festivals that fill the calendar.

Here, families enjoy gathering in green spaces for farmers markets while art lovers explore the myriad galleries and theaters showcasing the local talents. Food enthusiasts delight in everything from gourmet dining experiences to local food trucks serving up delicious fare that tells a story-much like the patients you'll work with.

The city's energetic rhythm is highlighted by a robust healthcare industry, a commitment to innovation, and the absence of state income tax, combining to create a living environment that fosters both career growth and personal fulfillment. Cleveland invites you to thrive, both professionally and personally, amidst its vibrant tapestry of flavors, cultures, and experiences.

Whether you're just embarking on your professional journey or are an experienced clinician ready for a new chapter, Cleveland awaits with open arms, offering the perfect blend of opportunity and adventure.
